How we handle regulated AI
Four commitments that shape every system we deliver. They are design constraints we can show you in the architecture, not statements of intent.
- Data minimization
- Models receive the smallest set of fields that answers the question. PHI that a feature does not need never reaches the inference path.
- Human oversight
- A qualified person reviews and can override any output that affects care or eligibility. The system is built to make that review fast, not to bypass it.
- Audit trails
- Inputs, model version, prompt or feature set, reviewer identity, and final outcome are recorded for every decision, including overrides.
- Model documentation
- Each model in production ships with its intended use, evaluation results, known limitations, and the conditions under which it should not be relied on.
Prior authorization triage with a clinician in the loop
The following is a representative example of how we structure this class of system. It is provided to illustrate our approach and does not describe a specific client engagement.
- Problem
- A specialty practice receives prior authorization requests as unstructured faxes and portal PDFs. Staff spend hours extracting the same fields and matching them against payer criteria, and the backlog delays care.
- Approach
- An extraction model reads each document into a structured draft. A second pass checks the draft against the payer's published criteria and flags what is missing. Every draft is queued for a reviewer, who sees the extracted fields side by side with the source page and the model's confidence on each field.
- Outcome
- Reviewers work from a completed draft instead of a blank form. Nothing is submitted without human approval, and the audit trail links each submission to the document, the model version, and the person who approved it.
